How start your 2020 like a BOSS

Okay, let me start off by saying where the heck did 2019 go? I feel like I blinked and it was November. And as fast as it went I cannot say I’m sad to see it go but that’s a whole other story. That being said, while I am still working on closing out December in the best way I can for my business, my focus has been on planning my 2020. The longer I am in business and the more I strive to find meaning and what I define as success I find that a HUGE part is having a plan. Creating vision boards is great, manifesting and affirming are awesome (I encourage them both) but if you want to progress strategy is a must.

I have planned my entire 2020 for my business. Sounds crazy and overwhelming right? Well, it did to me when I first heard my marketing coach propose it back in 2017. But, think about it, major corporations have forecast for their businesses 3-5 years out. They know what areas they want to grow in, which products they want to develop and in what direction the industry is moving. Not so far fetched now right? And it’s easier than you may think. I planned my year similarly to how I planned out my months and even days. Here’s my breakdown:

  1. Start by reviewing the current year. I take a look at your numbers and see how I fared. I look at services and launches and see what worked and what flopped. This is a great starting point because it allows you to see your progression over the year as well as where improvements need to be made. Keep and expand on what works. Revamp or throw out what doesn’t.
  1. Set your income goal for the year. I set my overall yearly goal. I then break that goal into bite size pieces (i.e. monthly, weekly, etc.)
  1. Brain Dump. I do a complete brain dump on all the services I want to offer, launches, events (etc.). Remember step 1? This is why. I decide on new services and courses as well as ideas that just didn’t come to fruition in the previous year.
  1. Map it out. Once I’ve done the brain dump I sit and plan each offer or event from start to finish. I mean the whole kitten caboodle from dates to pricing to marketing… EVERYTHING. I use my project management tool Asana, to manage each project. Fully set with steps, milestones and deadlines to ensure everything is on track.

That’s it! Time consuming? Kinda, I mean if you do the bulk (planning) on the front end, the actual execution is the easy part, especially if you have the right systems and automations in place. but it is SO well worth it. So, are you ready? Take the time today to plan your 2020 like a BOSS!
